Landlord Question and Answer Forum
We are terminating our contract with the property management company we have been using. We asked for a copy of the lease they have with the current tenant. They told us that they do not give out copies of leases to owners of the properties they manage. Our question is: are they required to give us a copy of the the lease with the current tenant upon request as we are the owners of the property. Thanks you in advance for any advice you can give us.

RE: copy of lease
Your property management cannot deny you a copy of the lease they work for you. Also if this is so draw up your own lease to have ready and get a lawyer. Once you threaten a company with a lawsuit they usually back down quick. Simply use the reason cannot afford to pay or not satisfied with the performance and always look over the contract that you would have signed with that company.
