Insurance demanding I install siding or will cancel

I have a Landlord Policy with my insurance co.  My rental is in excellent shape [recently re-did].  Outside of house is painted shingles.  Have done business with this insurance co for 40 yrs.  They have informed me that unless I put siding on house [house looks fine] they will cancel my insurance.  Anyone ever heard of this.  I don't have $7,000 available at a moments notice.
