California Notification of Pre-Move Out Inspection

After either a Tenant or Landlord has given notice of intent to terminate a tenancy, California Landlords must provide Tenants with written notice of their right to request a pre-move-out inspection and be present for that inspection. In addition, the notice must provide Tenants with specific language about reclaiming abandoned property.

Our California Notice of Pre-Move-Out Inspection:

  • Complies with all applicable Notice requirements;
  • Gives Tenants an opportunity to request a pre-move-out inspection;
  • Gives Tenants an opportunity to request to be present for the pre-move-out inspection;
  • States the purpose of the pre-move-out inspection; and
  • Outlines the terms and timeline for returning the security deposit.

Landlords should provide this written notice to all Tenants within a “reasonable” timeframe of either party giving notice that the tenancy will be terminated.
