Document Description
When you have made the decision to modify the terms of your lease, it’s important to ensure that your tenants understand both the changes that are being made and their options of acceptance or rejection. This letter should be sent along with the copy of the new lease you forward to your tenants for review. The document clearly outlines the steps that the tenant must take to either agree to the new terms, or reject them and begin the termination process.
Who: Tenants whose lease terms are changing.
What: An introductory letter summarizing the steps that must be taken to approve or reject the new terms, designed to serve as a cover letter for the modified lease.
When: Ideally, 45 or more days before the effective date of the new lease (check local regulations for the required time frame for lease change notification).
